Hyper-Pigmentation X WOW fusion

Pigmentation can take many forms. Whether it shows as sun spots, age spots, or dark patches, it is a highly common skin issue that affects millions of people around the world.

We all know that bright and even skin tone is one of the secrets to looking younger, so fighting pigmentation, dark spots is the holy grail to taking years off your face.

What causes hyperpigmentation

We asked Claire Williams, founder and CEO of WOW facial, experts in hyper-personalised skin solutions, to explain to us what is hyperpigmentation and what causes it. “Hyperpigmentation is caused by an increase in melanin. We all have (some more, some less!) melanin, it’s the natural pigment that gives our skin, hair and eyes their colour. Multiple causes are known for triggering an increase in the production of melanin, but the most common ones are sun exposure, age, pollution, inflammation, hormones, pregnancy, stress, dermatological diseases and also some medications. It’s an increase in melanin production that can form unwanted pigmentation spots and patches that result in uneven skin tone.” says Claire.

How can pigmentation be treated?

Claire explains, ”Melanin comes from the melanocytes that sit on the base layer of the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin, so in order to treat pigmentation we need to work at this superficial level. Darker skin tones, however, have more melanocytes and therefore more melanin production. In these cases, it’s not enough to work on a superficial level. In this case, it will also be necessary to inhibit the production of melanin to prevent hyperpigmentation.”"We all have approximately the same amount of melanocytes however darker skin types produce a different type of melanin and produce more of it however the only effective way to prevent hyperpigmentation in any skin type is to work to inhibit the production of melanin either by using ingredients to inhibit this or using a high-quality high sun protection factor on a daily basis.”
Claire suggests undergoing treatment with WOW fusion White, a skincare cocktail especially formulated to fight pigmentation and give your skin a bright, glowing appearance. By using the innovative WOW fusion needling device, an innovative tool expertly designed to make painless, small traumas in the skin with 20 titanium 24K gold plated micro-needles, the ingredients can flow down into the epidermal/dermal junction of the skin.

Why is WOW fusion different from any other treatment?

Claire explains that the WOW fusion device can be used in two different ways. “First by spot-treating, and then used all over the skin, or in addition with hyaluronic acid that will add an all over brightness and a reduction to sun damage and pigmentation all over the face.” Claire continues, “WOW fusion White is formulated using the best scientifically-proven ingredients to fight and prevent pigmentation, from skin brightening ingredients like High Dose Vitamin C and Liquorice Root Extracts, to revitalising ones including Glycolic Acid and Azelaic acid, all the way to melanin inhibitors such as Morus Alba Extract and Glutathione.”
“WOW Fusion White is the ultimate skin brightening cocktail” says Claire, adding “the amazing thing about the WOW fusion device is that the solutions can be customised to meet every skin need. This allows your WOW practitioner to create a cocktail of ingredients to best suit you after a thorough skin evaluation.”
Last but not least, Claire recommends “always applying sunscreen to prevent and protect the skin, especially if you are undergoing a hyperpigmentation treatment.”

The team at WOW recently launched a new line of innovative skincare products called Intradermology which includes their SPF ‘Synergy 6 NX-Gen SPF 50, a new active SPF that combines a 3D Physical Filter with revolutionary technological advances in environmental filters.
