Injectable skincare is the future

Approx 4 minute read |

Injectable skincare has become very popular in recent years, thanks to influencers, aesthetic practitioners and doctors alike who took Instagram & TikTok by storm with up close and personal stories of their treatments and more importantly, their results!

Excited to know more about injectable skincare? Here’s a quick explanation to give you a taste of what’s to come:

injectable skincare put simply is various nourishing, smoothing and hydrating ingredients being injected directly into the skin rather than being applied on the skin’s surface as one would with traditional skincare. It’s a new wave, next-generation, game changer.

Why inject skincare?

The outermost layer of the skin is very thick: its job is that of protecting us from any external element that could potentially wreak havoc on our health. So, when a product is applied topically, the skin protects itself and doesn’t let much in - hence why all we get are short-term, almost unnoticeable improvements.

If we want to really transform the skin, products need to be injected past the thick protective layer where they can actually reach the skin’s dermis to do their work and bring improvements on a cellular level.

Example: Collagen
Collagen is the skin’s protein, making up 75-80% of the skin and is responsible for its suppleness and firmness. As we age, the production of collagen slows down and this depletion of collagen (together with elastin) is what causes fine lines and wrinkles.

There are a plethora of over-the-counter collagen creams and lotions promising bouncy, youthful skin, but the truth is that those simply don’t work - they can’t work, because collagen is too big a molecule to be able to penetrate the thick outer layer of the skin, and therefore injecting it into the skin is the only way to see any benefits.

This applies to an array of active ingredients - from hyaluronic acid and vitamins to amino acids and antioxidants. These ingredients must reach below the skin barrier to have any effect on the skin. Cellular renewal starts in the under layers of the skin, as well as collagen and elastin production, hence why we use all kinds of peels and scrubs to shed our top layer of skin and see the new fresh skin beneath.

The more elastin and collagen our body produces, the slower the ageing process will be and the younger our skin will look. This is why injecting skincare is the only way to see any transformative results.

How is the skincare injected?

There are many ways to inject skincare. Over the years products such as botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid have traditionally been injected into the skin using a typical medical syringe. However, there are now newer medical devices on the market that use a much shorter needle and as opposed to one, there are many little needles on the one device. This offers a way to create many little injections in the skin to spread the product throughout in smaller doses giving brilliant skin-smoothing results.
The WOW fusion®️ device is a small innovative needling stamp that allows practitioners to create a bespoke skincare cocktail for each and every patient within its little glass vial. Each cocktail is tailored to the patients' exact skin needs and injected into the skin via multiple tiny injections - this is procedure is known as micro-needling.

What is Mirco-Needling?

Micro-needling works by encouraging your skin to make more collagen via mini pin-prick injections using very fine needles with a small spiral groove on the outside that ingredients can flow down from and into the underlayer of the skin. As the skin’s natural reaction to any trauma is to send collagen, each of this tiny pin-prick trauma stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production.

There are over 50 WOW fusion active ingredient solutions that can be used within the device including hyaluronic acid, amino acids, minerals and vitamins that are essential to skin health including B12, B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 and Vitamin C.

WOW fusion®️ can be used to treat a number of well-known skin concerns such as rosacea, acne, scarring, seborrhoea, medical scars, burns, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, hyper-pigmentation, as well as other skin related problems such as alopecia and excessive sweating.
